This book is the result of the conference ‘Chile and The Inter- American System of Human Rights’, held in May 2015 at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London.1 Its main objective was to reflect the relationship between Chile and the Inter-American Human Rights System (hereafter IAHRS or ‘the System’) by means of an interdisciplinary and detailed examination of the consequences of the most recent cases decided by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACtHR) against the Chilean state. These are: 1) Atala Riffo and daughters v. Chile (2012); 2) García Lucero et al. v. Chile (2013); and 3) Norín Catrimán et al. (Leaders, members and activist of the Mapuche indigenous people) v. Chile (2014).
