In light of the many issues related to the approaching completion of the Tribunal’s mandate, the ICTR, in collaboration with Brandeis University and the East African Law Society, held a symposium on The Legacy of International Criminal Courts and Tribunals for Africa from 29 November to 1 December 2007 in Arusha, Tanzania. More than 200 participants of thirtyfive countries, including seventeen from Africa, attended the symposium. This report is a summary of both the presentations that were made during the symposium sessions and the subsequent discussions that took place with audience members.
